The National Training Awards celebrate businesses, organisations and individuals that achieve outstanding success through training and development.  The awards are sponsored by City & Guilds and the East of England Skills and Competitiveness Partnership.

Colin Jackson congratulated all the winners, saying:  “It was a privilege to present the East of England winners with their awards last night.  Just as in sport you can’t get anywhere without training, these winners have shown that training is essential to getting ahead in business and in turning personal ambitions into reality.  They deserve their success.  Congratulations.”

The chair of the East of England judging panel, Paula Grayson, said: “My congratulations to all the winners from the East of England.  Their achievements are something we can all feel proud of.  I also hope their success will inspire others to enter next year’s awards with their stories of how training has transformed their company, community or career.”

Julia Nix, the Director of the East of England Skills and Competitiveness Partnership (EESCP), said:  “We are delighted to sponsor this event for a second year. The winners from the East of England this year illustrate the diverse range of skills development and training taking place in the region, and the impact that this has on the regional economy.  I would like to congratulate every winner on their success. EESCP will continue to coordinate skills and training activity across the region; bridging the skills gap, supporting individuals and helping businesses compete more effectively.”

UK Skills Chief Executive, Jacqui Henderson, said the winners had shown the impact that carefully planned training could have when it was aimed at meeting specific organisational needs.

“Each of them have a wonderful story to tell about the specific benefits that their training has brought them.  Increased productivity, reduced waste, improved customer satisfaction and increased sales.  They really do demonstrate that targeted training can boost a business’ bottom line.

“The individual winners provide a range of wonderful examples of the benefits that a personal investment in training can have.  They’ve achieved goals – discovered new ambitions – gained self-confidence and make a significant contribution to their communities.”
