South East Winners

South East celebrates the best in Training

Region’s companies and individuals honoured at annual National Training Awards

 

Companies and individuals in the South East gathered last night at the National Training Awards to celebrate those who have achieved really outstanding business and personal success through an investment in training.

 

Organised on behalf of the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) by UK Skills, the National Training Awards honour those who have made an outstanding contribution and commitment to training in the workplace.  The UK national winners in the South East were:
 

·         Kent Fire & Rescue Service, Maidstone, Kent

·         Active Assistance, Sevenoaks, Kent

·         Luminar Leisure, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire in partnership with Aspire Loughborough College
 

Meridian Tonight Fred Dinenage presented each winner with the trophy.

 

The 3 UK national winners will now be invited to the UK Gala Ceremony at London’s Royal Horticultural Halls on Thursday 10th December where they will find out whether or not they have won the overall Winner of the Year prize for their category.  They will be up against winners from across the UK.

 

The following regional awards were also presented at the ceremony, held at the Copthorne Hotel & Resort, Effingham Park:

Congratulating all winners, Fred Dinenage said:  “This year’s recipients in the South East have set the benchmark high.  Each and every one of them has proven that in today’s current climate, high quality training is an integral part of both personal and business development.  It is great to see such a wide range of winners from our region go forward to the UK Gala Ceremony, it really does put the South East on the map.”
 

Simon Bartley, Chief Executive of UK Skills which manages the National Training Awards said:  “The winners in the South East have demonstrated that training is an investment not a cost and that it can transform companies, careers, and communities.  I congratulate them all on what they have achieved.”

 

Skills Minister Kevin Brennan said:  “It is more important than ever that we continue to support and invest in the training of our workforce, helping individuals develop their skills as well helping businesses stay competitive and prepare for the upturn and the opportunities the future will present.

 

“This year’s winners demonstrate the diverse range of training taking place within the UK and the benefits it is delivering to organisations and employees.”
